Why visit the colonial town of Pirenópolis?

Pirenópolis is one of Brazil's gems thanks to its colonial heritage of baroque churches and cobbled streets with houses painted in lovely colours. Among the Pirenópolis' tourist attractions are churches, museums, tiny restaurants and a chaçaca bar [type of Brazilian liquor]. Check out the recently opened motorcycle museum, "Rodas do Tempo", which is only two blocks from the guesthouse.

Pirenópolis' other feature is its numerous waterfalls and hiking opportunities. Most of the falls can be visited independently, some require a guide. There are possibilities for day hikes, bicycle tours and horseback riding. For more information check the CAT tourist information downtown, or one of the travel agencies that offer these services.

Pirenópolis is a popular weekend resort for Brazilians from surrounding cities. It can be crowded and noisy during these days. To be assured of tranquillity, come during the week. During holidays [often an extended weekend] reservations are recommended.
